Negotiations at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke with works council and IGM successfully concluded

July 10, 2023, Witten: Negotiations at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke with works council and IGM successfully concluded

The "Future DEW 2025" program is intended to put Deutsche Edelstahlwerke, a subsidiary of the international Swiss Steel Group, which has been economically unsuccessful for many years, back on the road to success. This required some changes to the existing collective and company agreements. The parties to the collective agreement negotiated these within the framework of co-determination in recent weeks, after a detailed analysis of the company's business and production situation had been completed. The negotiations were characterized on all sides by the constructive spirit of focusing on preserving jobs and helping to shape DEW's future. Under this premise, a compromise was found which was acceptable to all sides and which still has to be confirmed by the respective boards. The parties agreed not to disclose details. DEW is one of the few steel producers already able to produce and supply green steel. Within the Group it is one of the European market leaders. This is one of the major opportunities for the streamlined DEW in the future.
